Testing pre-production samples or preparing a “golden” sample is an extremely important step of preparing the factory to start mass production. The purpose and the result of such testing is a formation of a check-list for further inspections.
TQC Company highlights two approaches to testing:
- Testing based on TQC laboratory. TQC engineers conduct empirical tests and develop comprehensive quality checklists
- Organization of samples testing in licensed laboratories. This option is chosen in case specialized equipment is necessary to check the quality of the materials. It can include: testing for harmful substances, heavy metals, formaldehyde, volatile organic compounds, mechanical, electrical, combustible, climatic tests
An effective check-list consists of step by step instructions for checking all the requirements for the product and the supplier, and includes sections such as:
- Quality standards and product requirements
- Criteria and tolerances for defects
- Packing requirements
- Testing methods
- Defect classifications
Testing pre-production samples and development of check-lists are often a nucleus of any effective quality control program. Check-lists are important because of two reasons. Firstly, check-lists are necessary to agree on all product requirements and standards with the supplier. Secondly, they are necessary for organizing a clear and regulated inspection – they are a step by step instruction for the inspector.
